10:00 AM - Once everyone has arrived, we have a snack and go over the day's program.
10:30 AM - Morning activity/excursion.
12:00 PM - Return to the homebase for lunch, free play and/or relaxation.
1:30 to 3:00 PM - Afternoon activity/excursion.
3:00 to 4:00 PM - Return to homebase for free play and slow departure.
What is the ratio of kids to adults?
There are always at least 2 adults for a group of up to 20 children including the CITs. We aim to have two CITs to accompany us each week.
What are some examples of activities?
One of the best things about WonderMud is that we keep it flexible and are never in a hurry. This allows us to adapt to the group, the weather and any spontaneous learning opportunities that arise. Here are just a few of our favorite activities from last summer:
meeting the farm animals
helping with chores
exploring the farmland ecosystems
visiting neighbours' gardens (Sue and Audrey)
harvesting fresh produce
picking blackberries
nature-inspired crafts...
What types of animals do we encounter?
On the farm, we'll meet and get to know cows, laying hens, meat chickens, goats, ponies and sheep, not to mention a variety of wildlife that cohabits the vast farmland.
What are my responsibilities as a CIT?
Attend the pre-season orientation (late June, date to be confirmed) from 9 AM to 12 PM
Ensure children's safety during activities
Encourage participation in games and farm activities
Participate with children as they create their own games and projects
Model positive behaviour and enthusiasm
Support Meagan and Jess in daily operations
Why become a CIT? This role is for you if you...
are looking to gain work experience
like the idea of spending your days outside in a relaxed and fun environment
wish to develop leadership skills
enjoy or are curious about working with children
